Aaron Jones of Old Blind Dogs

Leading contemporary folk musician Aaron Jones will be appearing on the “New Celtic Revival” radio program this Monday May 18, 2009 between noon and 3:00 PM with host Earl Britt. Jones is a member of the group Old Blind Dogs as well as working on many other projects.
The Old Blind Dogs take very traditional Celtic music forms and then really crank it up a notch. Actually, many notches.They always feature very active percussion and truly pounding, driving rhythms which make their sound instantly unique.
Originally from Poole in England, Aaron Jones has lived in Scotland for over twenty years. Aaron spends much of his year touring in the USA, Canada, and throughout the UK and Europe. He has recorded on countless CD’s and has made numerous TV and Radio appearances worldwide. He continues to work regularly with some of the biggest names in traditional music, both as a performer and as a producer.
Aaron is lead vocalist and bouzouki/guitarist with Old Blind Dogs who were voted Folk Band of the Year in 2004 and 2007 at the Scots Trad Music Awards. He is also currently working with multi-instrumentalist Claire Mann in the group ‘Secret Orders’ and with German duo Jürgen Treyz and Gudrun Walther as ‘The Two Duos’. They have just released their first CD “Until the Cows Come Home.” He was voted instrumentalist of the Year at the 2005 Scots Trad Music Awards.
Concerts planned for 2009 include tours with Old Blind Dogs, Secret Orders (with Claire Mann, Leo McCann and Nathon Jones), Damien O’Kane, The Two Duos and with Battlefield Band fiddler Alasdair White. Other albums set for release in 2009 include a new release from Secret Orders, the Songs of Robert Tannahill Volume II, and recording sessions for multi-instrumentalist Damien O’Kane and fiddler Alistair McCulloch.
The New Celtic Revival radio program features the best in music from Ireland, Scotland and America as well as interviews with top musicians from around the globe. Locally, it can be heard over FM at 88.1.
