Exciting New Indie Adds
Hey everyone, the Indie department at WBGU is getting some great CDs in this year. Here’s our favorites we’ve gotten so far:
1. Arcade Fire – “The Suburbs”
This album has been getting so many plays from our station. In case you haven’t heard, the Arcade Fire’s album “The Suburbs” has been one of the most anticipated albums of 2010. To quote the back of the album, it “revels in open space, reflections on long drives, and contemplating possibilities.” Check it out!
2. Sleigh Bells – “Treats”
Sleigh Bells have really been the breakout band of the summer. Every bit of the album is catchy, and it’s hard not to get excited about it. If you’re big into hard electronic indie music, this band is perfect for you.
3. Les Savy Fav – “Root For Ruin”
If you loved Les Savy Fav’s older album “Let’s Stay Friends,” you’ll probably love their new album. The only disappointing thing is that we cannot play my favorite song off the album because it has an FCC violation (Sleepless in Silverlake).
4. Of Montreal – “False Priest”
I always get apprehensive when I hear a new cd from a band I really like. But Of Montreal maintains their crazy stylistic sound. It’s hard not to have fun or move while listening to this album.
No Age – “Everything In Between”
Starts out employing a lot of electronics, but in later songs adopting a more post-punk sound. All delivered with an apathetic attitude. “Everything In Between” is pretty much the perfect title for this album.
